The Grand Finale

Two years of preparations and plans for the pilot season of the Greek Language League (G.L.L.) came to a beautiful end on Wednesday April 20th with the major final and the bronze medal game. Two amazing games saved for the end full of surprises for all teams.

Antetokounmpo Arena hosted the bronze medal game between Tsakalia and Sainia. After the disappointment at the semi-finals, if you thought that this would be an irrelevant game, you were wrong. With the same attitude as the last two months, the two teams showed great determination and passion and they had fun during the game. The odds were against Sainia but they managed to get the precious win in the bronze medal fight and they concluded the pilot season with non-stop celebrations.

The major final was hosted at Stefanidi Arena by the two strongest teams of the GLL, Gatonia versus Spirta. The teams faced each other again in the group stage where Gatonia won, the only loss of Spirta at that time. With this thought, Spirta began the game as the underdog and gathered only 85 points against the 381 points of Gatonia at the end of Round 1.

Most teams would lose faith after such a big difference but Spirta did not. Round 2 was their time to shine and turn things around. With an unbelievable streak of correct answers, they turned the game and won it gathering 465 points! They proved that a game is over, when it is over and not before.

Through an amazing pilot season, the four teams won our hearts with their participation and performance. Congratulations to all 30 players who helped us begin something wonderful, the Greek championship for little Greeks from all over the world. A great journey has ended but be sure that this was only the beginning of something even better. Stay tuned!!
